Politics is acceptance of an imperfect world with imperfect tools and working to make a more perfect system to deal with pressing problems of today and beyond.

Slogan: “Reduce the friction”

How: “with better mental models of the world”

Main goal of government should be to provide three main services to its citizens:

a) Health (medical), b) Education, c) Retirement Security

In the US, these fundamental services are the “three insecurities” and represent areas of tremendous anxiety within the population.

Retirement

401K was designed as a tax dodge for the rich, it is not a good retirement vehicle for the average person. Alternative 401k retirement plan: Government infrastructure bonds, able to be purchased through any 401k or IRA plan. This would provide ample money for the government to invest in infrastructure and provide stable constant growth fund for retirees.

Education

  • Move towards a focus on mastery and individual performance metrics. Interweave self directed learning apps with in class work.

  • Life long portfolio that is web-based and transferable to any school

  • Emotional intelligence and ethical understanding training

  • Introduction to job categories, skills requirements, pathways into these jobs, salary ranges, physical locations in the US and abroad, etc.

Medical

  • National health insurance

  • Regulate all drugs and medical procedures

  • Government funded drug research (open source data, allow private companies to innovate on how to most effectively produce drugs)

  • Government funded medical schools to allow anyone with the aptitude to become a doctor, nurse, etc. without taking on huge amounts of debt.

Tax Reform

  • VAT tax, small fixed amount on all sales in every industry

  • Government issued tax forms

  • Eliminate tax credits

  • Limit losses

  • Reform how expenses are accounted for

  • Eliminate non-profit entities

  • Tax religions

  • Lower based tax rates but eliminate tax loop holes.

Worker-Employer Relations

  • increase the minimum wage, and tie it to inflation.

  • Ensure labor representatives have a position on the board of directors. This would eliminate the need for unions and eliminate management from having astronomical compensations and taking advantage of workers

Simplifying Things

  • Eliminate daylight savings time (shift to summer time clock year round)

  • Transition over to the metric system (seek foreign government grants to help with this transition)

  • Office of data visualization (simple visualizations, effective VR, open source tools, etc.)

  • National job search department with website. Department verifies job posts, job requirements, salary ranges, locations, etc. It standardizes job applications. It provides a visitation of where the jobs are located. It assists workers with determining cross functional capabilities, gaps to be filled for new industry requirements. Etc

  • Date formats: Year, Month, Day, time-24-hour

Reforming Political Parties

  • Ranked choice voting

  • National holiday for voting

  • Canidate website - for all elections from the highest positions to the lowest positions.

    • Include a description of the positions and what the responsibilities and powers of each position are

    • Include a similar website for career government positions

Legal system

Ideally, the legal system would be rooted in ethics. Unfortunately, the legal system was created at a time with ethical relativism was the main philosophy and it has devolved into a means of creating and enforcing unethical rules and actions that are state condoned and shrouded in purity/sanctity.

Idealized Design: Each law would have to summarize its intent in the abstract. It should provide ethical justification for its purpose in the abstract.

Idealized Design: Courts should accept ethical arguments and hold them with equal or greater weight than existing case law.

Means of Crowd Sourcing Reform

  • Game show that reviews old laws and has viewers vote on whether to keep or repeal the law. This get priority in the legislature and votes are public.

  • Software platform to allow effective crowd sourcing of laws to repeal. The legislators would still have to vote on the repeal.

Hub & Spoke Economic Zones

  • US economic zones optimized for freight

    • Locate zones near, but outside of major cities

    • Locations should center around manufacturing and warehousing

    • Locations should be in areas with ample water, power, and workforce

How to deal with major industry turn over:

  • Jobs Department to accelerate job placement

  • Government to form new departments

  • Jobs placement

  • Regulation compliance assistances: instead of “heavy fines if we catch you violating things”, have regulators assess, provide pre engineered compliance guidelines, then have the government provide low interest loans to finance the compliance measures.

  • Enviromental services

  • For displaced workers in: tax accountants, medical assistances, legal, etc.

Conservatives are highly motivated by:

  1. The free rider problem

  2. In group/ out group memes

  3. Liberty/oppression memes

Their fears of these issues have left them to be bad bees, putting the hive at risk.

Philosophy dictates action.

Policy and budgets are therefore not dry boring items but rather actions that indicate one’s commitments to their ideals.

So what policies should follow from these states beliefs?
